b'1949 On the MoveThe partnership was expanded in 1950, when Colin Trent joined the firm. Colin already had a direct involvement with the company, being -1969 Sidney Clarkes brother in law & Brian Clarkes uncle. Colin Trent had trained as a Chartered Surveyor between WW1 and WW11 with Clarke Gammon & Co., then joined MEPC during WW11 and Wates immediately after.Colin Trents passion for the firm continued into his retirement when he wrote the 1st Clarke Gammon & Emerys Newsletter, Edition 1927-1974. This was the only newsletter the firm had ever produced, up until 1999 when Clarke Gammon launched On The Move.I joined the comparatively new Firm of Clarke, Gammon & Co. as an Articled Pupil at the office in the upper High Street in about 1926 or 1927, the Manager being the late Mr. Robert Shaw, whose son Bob still practises in the Town. In those far off days small Estate Offices had very little modern equipment and the Firms transport comprised a 2 cylinder de Dion Bouton car and a motor bike and sidecar.Mr. Trent concluded by saying May you and the Firm continue to prosper whether there are redsWe have seen it all before in these fifty years and under the bed, reds of a paler shade in Downingwhether times are good or bad, one consolation is Street or bright blue Tories sailing in the Solent.that Surveyors and Estate Agents usually find workColin TrentSenior Partnerto be done.
