Clarke Gammon Sponsored Peper Harow Point to Point 2017

For the past 5 years, Clarke Gammon have been proud sponsors of the annual Peper Harow Point to Point event, which runs every year in Surrey. This year there were over 5000 people in attendance to the popular amateur horse racing event, 100 of which were guests invited by Clarke Gammon.

Preparing for the event

9 months of preparation and planning, including 2 weeks of building is what goes into the Point to Point each year, hosted by the Surrey Union Hunt. Peper Harrow Park, in Surrey, is listed as a building of special historical interest within the Historic Buildings and Ancient Monuments Act 1953, under the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens by English Heritage section. The historic stunning grounds are an ideal location for the horse racing event, which also offers other attractions on the day. Companies sponsor the event to allow it happen.

Point to Point 2017 attractions

Point-to-Point racing refers to the points of the church steeples that are passed within the race, similar to the Steeplechase or National Hunt racing, but run cross country rather than established tracks. This year the gates opened at 11am, giving plenty of time before the beginning of the first race at 2pm for spectators to find a great spot to watch, and everyone involved to enjoy a picnic in the sun.

An event for the family

The great weather made it perfect for families to watch the Hound Parade held at 12:45, and to buy food and drinks onsite from the many trade stands selling country goods. Children particularly enjoyed the fairground amusements on offer. Racecards were also available for the day with all the information of the horses, trainers and owners for participants of each race, as well as the other attractions and sponsors.
