PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED BY HARRY POTTER
TO BE AUCTIONED

A black and white photograph, signed by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry potter), is to be auctioned at Clarke Gammon Wellers’ Guildford Auction Rooms, Bedford Road, at their forthcoming Fine Art Sale, 24th June 2003.

The only autographed still so far released from Warner Brothers is of the scene where Harry receives his acceptance letter in the first Harry Potter film, The Philosopher’s Stone, and is to be issued together with an original acceptance letter addressed to Harry Potter and used in the film. Also included in the lot is the letter’s original envelope, with its wax seal, and a letter of authenticity from Warner Brothers.

Clarke Gammon Wellers, the only Auctioneers in Guildford, was approached by a Lady called Barbara Datson who is raising money for a Children’s Hospital in India that has virtually no equipment. All the money from the lot will go to the Kanti Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal.

“ The sale is perfectly timed with the release of JK Rowling’s latest Harry Potter book,” says Gordon Patrick, Auction Room Manager at Clarke Gammon Wellers. The sale is expected to fetch between £5,000 and £7,000. Mr Patrick commented “I have heard of the letters alone selling for £7,000 so this is unique for us. It may sell to a collector, perhaps in America.”

The buyer will receive copies of the letter it holds so he or she can read it without damaging the example.
